Ischemic late gadolinium enhancement.

چکیده
While research exploring the utility of intravascular gadolinium based contrast agents (GBCA), such as gadofosveset (Vasovist, ABLAVAR) is ongoing, cardiac MR is currently routinely performed with administration of standard extracellular GBCAs, e.g. Gd-DTPA (Magnevist) or Gd-BOPTA (Multihance). LGE is a phenomenon related to the distribution of the extracellular GBCAs. Upon intravenous injection of an extracellular GBCA, myocardium enhances when gadolinium chelate contrast material diffuses passively throughout the extracellular space.2

Emerging Concepts for Myocardial Late Gadolinium Enhancement MRI
Late gadolinium enhancement is a useful tool for scar detection, based on differences in the volume of distribution of gadolinium, an extracellular agent. The presence of fibrosis in the myocardium amenable to be detected with late gadolinium enhancement MRI is found not only in ischemic cardiomyopathy, in which it offers information regarding viability and prognosis, but also in a wide variety...
متن کاملRecovery of methamphetamine associated cardiomyopathy predicted by late gadolinium enhanced cardiovascular magnetic resonance
Methamphetamine is known to cause a cardiomyopathy which may be reversible with appropriate medical therapy and cessation of use. Late gadolinium enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has been shown to identify fibrosis in ischemic and non-ischemic cardiomyopathies. We present a case of severe methamphetamine-associated cardiomyopathy in which cardiac function recovered after 6 mo...
متن کاملRight ventricular ischemic injury in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: characterization with cardiovascular magnetic resonance.
BACKGROUND Experimental data show that the right ventricle (RV) is more resistant to ischemia than the left ventricle. To date, limited data are available in humans because of the difficulty of discriminating reversible from irreversible ischemic damage. We sought to characterize RV ischemic injury in patients with reperfused myocardial infarction using cardiovascular magnetic resonance. METH...

متن کاملRole of gadolinium enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance in recent onset non-ischemic cardiomyopathy: a systematic review and metanalysis
Background Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and early gadolinium enhancement (EGE) are powerful diagnostic tools for acute cardiomyopathies. LGE is associated with impaired prognosis in ischemic and in chronic non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM), but the impact of gadolinium enhanced CMR on prognosis in recent onset NICM is less well established. We performed a ...
متن کاملMyocardial fibrosis delineation in late gadolinium enhancement images of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy patients using deep learning methods
Introduction: Accurate delineation of myocardial fibrosis in Late Gadolinium Enhancement on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (LGE-CMR) has a crucial role in the assessment and risk stratification of HCM patients. As this is time-consuming and requires expertise, automation can be essential in accelerating this process. This study aims to use Unet-based deep learning methods to automate the mentioned ...
